The new feature film by director Tony Gatlif, creator of the film “Vengo.”
Djam is a young Greek girl sent to Istanbul by her uncle, a former sailor and ardent admirer of rebetiko music. Her mission is to fetch an ancient part of an old dinghy. On her journey, she meets a French girl named Avril who has come to Istanbul to work with refugees. Djam, with her youthful grace, bravery, and generosity, takes the lost Avril under her wing. This is a magical journey full of music in the landscapes of the Mediterranean Basin with a realistic and critical view of the economic crisis in Greece. This is a film about friendship and mutual responsibility, and especially about the hope that comes from music.
