Maria Callas, the great opera singer of the 20^th century, in the documentary film by director Tom Wolf, combines scenes from rare archives with clips from private 8 mm films taken by friends, as well as intimate letters, films taken behind the scenes, and recordings of opera pieces, some recorded by fans. Via the rare archive scenes and the voice of Maria, we travel in this hypnotizing film to the capitals of Europe and the great opera houses of Milan and Paris.

 

Callas’ words present her life story as seen from within, providing a glimpse behind the scenes of her rise and the secrets of her tragic fate.
